Winter Skin

Updated 7/6/2014
Month 2 Mailer
Another Thanksgiving has come and gone.  Winter has arrived.  OK, maybe not officially, but it's colder and drier outside, and my skin is feeling it.  There comes a time every Fall, when after washing my face with my usual cleanser* for Combination/Oily Skin, that my skin feels tight and dry, instead of just clean.  That's when I know it's time to switch to Normal/Dry for the Winter.  My Combination/Oily products hibernate for the winter, not to be seen again until Spring, except for the odd warm-weather vacation.

In addition, I lock it all in with Extra Emollient Night Cream on my face & neck.  Hands and feet, too!  It's wonderful stuff.

If you are over 30 or are past the point of full-fledged breakouts, switch formulas during the coldest months of the year. Your skin will tell you when it's time for the switch. Keep a tube of Clear Proof Acne Treatment Gel handy, to banish the occasional blemish.

Also consider your foundation shade at this time.  Your skin, even if you're not a sun-worshipper, will usually be at least one shade lighter in the winter.  To see if your foundation is the correct shade, get yourself under some indirect daylight, and see if your foundation is the same color as your neck.  This is the goal, ladies!  If not, it's time to go to your winter shade.  Contact me to be matched or to get some samples.

Keep your skin properly moisturized, & have a wonderful holiday season!

Summer Perfect Feet & Legs

It's the season for beautiful feet! Your feet are on display every day. You are either giving yourself regular pedicures, or having them done at a salon, but what are you doing in between to keep your feet looking their best? Here are my tips for feet and legs: 1. Every time you don your athletic or yard work shoes, take a minute to go over your feet with a foot file to smooth out any rough spots, and then apply a generous amount of Extra Emollient Night Cream , or the Hand Softener in the Satin Hands Set , all over your feet and toes. Then go do your workout, and let the heat and the Cream do their magic! You'll be amazed, when you remove your socks, how soft and smooth your feet look and feel! 2. Keep the Satin Smoothie Hand Scrub, from the  Satin Hands Set * , in your shower, along with a fingernail brush. After you've worked out while wearing the Hand Softener/Extra Emollient Night Cream on your feet, hop in the shower and wash your feet with the Sati...

The Modern Cat Eye - Video Tutorial from Robert Jones

Updated April 19, 2017 Makeup Artist Robert Jones show us how to do a modern "Cat Eye", using Adele as his inspiration.  To watch him do the eyeliner, skip ahead to about 6 minutes in.  It's worth watching the entire process, though.  He also applies false eyelashes.  For the eye shadow, I recommend combining the Mary Kay Cream Eye Colors of Pale Blush and Beach Blonde, and then topping that with Sweet Cream Mineral Eye Color to acheive an opaque color.  For the eye liner, start with MK's Black Eye Liners , and then go over it with a liner brush dipped in Coal Mineral Eye Color, which is a powder.  Or try MK's Liquid Eyeliner Pen  or Black  Gel Eyeliner  for a dramatic line.  Note that Robert does not apply foundation or concealer below the eyes until AFTER most of the eye makeup is complete.  This is done so that any stray eye makeup under the eye gets cleaned up, & the raccoon effect is avoided. ...
